Collection: Artwork by AJ

Alicia Johnson (AJ), is a Barkindji, Latji Latji, Buri Gubba and Wakka Wakka artist. Her father comes from the small Indigenous community of Wilcannia, and her mother is from Australia’s oldest and largest mission called Cherbourg. AJ spent her childhood in Broken-Hill in rural New South Wales, this is greatly reflected in her artwork. Celebrating the beauty of the desert in detailed line work and a bold colour palette. AJ is all about celebrating culture, femininity and the importance of healing - all of which has been captured in the most recent series. AJ is currently a PhD Candidate at Sydney University, where she also studied her honours year at Sydney College of the Arts.
